Cleaned homepage up, fixed links

I just cleaned up the homepage and took out the direct links. I like it better- much cleaner. I also added a quick video tour on the page that will explain to folks what the site is all about.

I finally feel like it's "done".....but am looking forward to making it grow from here this school year. Please contribute ideas to the tool pages!

First version of whole site is done!

I just finished putting the finishing touches on the site and am ready to start publishing it out and broadcasting it. It's been awhile since I posted here and I figured I'd wait until the site was done to start posting here again.

I've added some key components since I began:
  • Each tool page now has a Google Form associated with it so that teachers can contribute ideas of how they've used the tool in the classroom. Responses will be automatically added to the output page- which also has a link on each tool page. I'm really hoping this site turns into a place where teachers can not only get started learning how to use these tools, but also come for ideas of how to use them with their students! We'll just have to see if the site spreads enough so that this can happen.
  • I added a 4th section where I could point folks to some awesome video sites such as Edutecher, EDU PLN, Free Tech 4 Teachers, etc.
  • I also added a spot where I can put any miscelleanous videos I create in the future
  • I put some of my favorite ed videos on there as well so I could share out.

If you go through the site and see anything wrong or missing please let me know at edtechsteve@gmail.com. Also, anywhere I've referenced other people's sites or work I've tried to link to them so you can check them out. Please let me know if any of those are lost or broken- I definitely want to give credit where it's due with those great sites or videos I list.

Here's to hoping this is the start of a resource that will be helpful to as many teachers and students as possible!

Wordle / Word Cloud videos up

I just uploaded videos for Wordle at http://teachertechvids.com . Wordle is a word cloud maker and is a great entry point for both students and teachers using digital tools.

This means I am finally finished with the first (and largest) group of tools!!! I anticipate finishing the rest up by the end of June if life does not interfere. :)

Some weird technical glitch with some HD vids

I noticed today that some of the videos I'm posting will not play their HD versions on Youtube. They are glitchy. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW4TgOLiF0k&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1

The lower-def versions are working well, but not the HD. Have not been able to figure out why yet...doh.

The good news is that all the videos still work when played through teachertechvids.com. They're only glitchy when playing directly from Youtube. Go figure. If you have any ideas as to why, please share!

New Vid- Google Earth

I just posted another new video, kind've. I posted one for Google Earth, but I didn't do the normal three. That's because Google already does an awesome job with their tutorial videos and there's no real reason to recreate the wheel on this one. (http://earth.google.com).

Next up is Picnik, a great little image editor!

Animoto Vids are up!

It's been awhile since I've been able to update some new videos, but that should change in the next few weeks. I'm going to work hard to try and get as many as I can done before the end of February, so there should be a lot of updates coming out soon.

I just put up Animoto videos: http://teachertechvids.com . They're listed in the Newbie section. Hope they help!
